A property, land title and purchase agreement lawyer, Peter Title -has been the authority on, fittingly, title issues for more than 30 years.

In 1991, he published a two-volume treatise on state real estate law, “Louisiana Real Estate Transactions, with a second updated edition published in 2000.

Title clerked for Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Marcus Clark after graduating from Tulane Law School. In 1976, he joined Sessions, Fishman & Nathan — the same firm where he works today — and found a niche in property law.

Throughout his career, Title has effected change in Louisiana’s land title industry. He served as chairman of the Trusts, Estates, Probate, and Immovable Property Law Section for the Louisiana State Bar Association and was on the council of the Louisiana State Law Institute, a governmental body established to improve law and help draft new legislation.

He was on a legal team that examined compensation and titles, for Louisiana residents making wetlands claims following the Deepwater Horizon oil spiU, working with a program administrator over several years to evaluate hundreds of claims.

This year, he was named president of the Louisiana Land Title Association and has been a title expert, testifying in court in various property cases.

Another legal venture for Title has been in arbitration through the American Arbitration Association, ruling on commercial leases and property disputes.

In his free time, Title supports the New Orleans Public Library and is active in his synagogue.
